Leadership

Leadership at St. James exists to serve the life of the church.

Those who lead here do so as stewards of worship, community, and mission. Leadership is shared, accountable, and rooted in care for the people of this parish and the wider community we serve.

Clergy Leadership

The clergy of St. James are responsible for the spiritual life of the parish.
Their work centers on worship, preaching, pastoral care, and guiding the community in prayer and discernment. Clergy leadership at St. James is grounded in listening, presence, and faithfulness rather than authority for its own sake.
Pastoral care is offered with compassion and confidentiality, and clergy are accessible to those seeking conversation, prayer, or guidance.

Lay Leadership and Governance

St. James is guided by shared leadership between clergy and lay leaders.
The Vestry serves as the governing body of the parish, responsible for stewardship, vision, and the practical life of the church. Vestry members are elected from within the congregation and serve as representatives of the parish, working collaboratively and prayerfully on behalf of the whole community.
This shared model of leadership reflects a commitment to accountability, transparency, and thoughtful decision-making.

Accountability and Care

Leadership at St. James is exercised within clear structures of accountability.
Clergy and lay leaders serve under the oversight of the Episcopal Church and are committed to ethical leadership, responsible stewardship, and the well-being of the parish. Decisions are made prayerfully, with attention to the mission of the church and the needs of the community.
Trust is built through consistency, openness, and care.

Connecting with Leadership

Leadership at St. James is meant to be approachable.
If you have questions, concerns, or would like to learn more about the life of the church, opportunities to connect with clergy or lay leaders are available. Conversation is welcomed, and listening is valued.

Leadership in Service of Mission

Leadership at St. James exists to support worship, strengthen community, and sustain service beyond the church walls.

Every role, whether visible or behind the scenes, is connected to the shared work of living faith through thought, word, and deed.
